We have moved to 1515 South Ewing Avenue, Suite 110.
For nearly thirty years The Book Doctor has provided custom bookbinding, book restoration, and book and bible repair services to customers nationwide. Today we are recommended by many libraries, bookstores, and dealers. We are members of the American Institute for Conservation (Book and Paper Group), The Guild of Bookworkers, and the Texas Association of Museums.
Our approach to repair and restoration is focused on maintaining the original character of each book. By using excellent materials and methods, we can extend the life of your book -- whether your book is an heirloom, antique, or everyday volume. Our custom books and covers are made with the same care and technique that informs our restorations. Choose from a variety of styles and materials, from Italian cloth to Harmatan leather in several colors. We also have materials for dissertation and annual report binding. We accept work by mail or by appointment, Monday-Friday, 1-3 pm. GIFT CERTIFICATES AVAILABLE. |
Ms. McKay does her work in a small, pleasantly fusty shop, with workbenches behind the main counter, gilt-edged books everywhere, bolts of colorful cloth piled atop an old chest of many short, wooden drawers, the kind of chest used to house movable type or maps." |
