Do you have gift certificates?
Yes.
Are you open to the public? Do I need an appointment?
We accept work by mail and by appointment Monday-Friday, 1-3pm. For an appointment please call.
For pickups, we return work by appointment, by mail, or curbside pickup.
May I send my book to you?
Please call for shipping details. Do not mail books without notifying us.
Yes. We recommend getting a rough estimate by phone first. If you decide to ship your book please include your name, phone number, address, and email address. When we receive your book we will call with an estimate.
What is your process?
We are happy to provide a rough estimate by phone or email. If you decide to bring or ship your book to us we will offer an exact estimate after we have looked over it. We do ask for a 50% deposit to schedule the work. The balance is due within 30 days of completion.
Do you offer a price list?
While we have set fees for most work we have not posted them. Please call or email with questions. We aren’t trying to be mysterious but we believe we can provide a better sense of cost and timeline after a conversation with you.
Should I send pictures to your email address?
Please call us first. We do not open files from strangers. Additionally, sometimes emails with attachments end up in spam. If you do send email to us and do not get a response please try again.
I called but did not get a response. Are you there?
Yes. During certain times of the year we experience a high volume of requests and have to prioritize. We try to get to everybody. Importantly, in the age of cell phones and internet phone service sometimes we can’t understand the message or voicemail boxes are full.
Do you send the work out?
No, The Book Doctor staff does the work in the shop. If we need to work with a vendor on an element of your project we will let you know in advance (for example: having a die made).
What is the cancellation policy?
As of 4/15/22, deposits are refundable 30 days after receipt. After 30 days deposits are not refundable.
May I change my order after placing it?
Of course! Please let us know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to avoid delaying the due date. Last minute changes to materials or type of work may cause delays. Please keep in mind that we plan our work 6-8 weeks in advance of deadlines.
