- Do
restore a book before it gets worse!
- Do
keep books out of extreme elements such as heavy, concentrated
lighting, direct sunlight or leaving in car.

store tall and large books or books with flexible covers
by laying them flat rather than standing.
- Do
place a book in the freezer if you see signs of bugs,
fungus or mildew.
- Do
clean leather books periodically, and have a qualified
binder feed the leather every 2-5 years.

- Don't pick a book up by one of
the coverboards
- Don't use books as "file
cabinets" by placing newspaper clippings (that contain
a lot of acid) and other "keepsakes" in them.
- Don't take hold of a book, when
removing from a shelf, at the top of the spine.
- Don't carry Bibles or books in
covers or carrying cases as it will break the spine.
- Don't use cellophane, duct or
masking tape to repair a book
